Dayton, OH, October 24, 2011—SuperLumin Networks, a leading provider of scalable, high-performance media proxy and application acceleration solutions, today announced findings from its recent SuperLumin Nemesis proxy server utilized during BrainShare 2011 in Salt Lake City.
This year, more than 2,000 attendees gathered for BrainShare to attend classes, meet with colleagues, and learn about the latest enterprise networking solutions.
With so many attendees, the BrainShare organization faced the challenge of providing efficient, wireless Internet access to thousands of IT professionals simultaneously using their devices to stay in touch with operations back home.
Show management realized the importance of providing a pleasant Web browsing experience, and asked SuperLumin to implement a Nemesis proxy server to cache network content.
“This year, network usage during BrainShare more than doubled last year’s rate,” said Mike Morgan, Director of Marketing at Novell. “With the implementation of the Nemesis proxy server, our administration reported smooth operations and a typical show day had more than forty percent bandwidth savings.”
With hundreds of attendees accessing the same sites and downloading content from many of the same sources, SuperLumin played a key role in improving the Web browsing experience. Frequently accessed content was stored on the Nemesis proxy server, so when attendees used their devices to retrieve content, download times were minimized and bandwidth wasn’t jeopardized.
“Many times, Internet traffic at trade shows and events are so high that the network gets congested,” said Brad Rupp, Senior Software Engineer at SuperLumin Networks. “The Nemesis proxy server alleviated congestion and network load by bringing content closer to the user, which resulted in an enhanced attendee Web browsing experience. For a sustained period of time during the show, we saw upwards of 70 percent bandwidth savings.”
